Meet the Team

Dr Shuren Taylor
Clinical Director
MBBS, DCH, FRACGP
Dr Shuren Taylor has more than 25 years working experience as a doctor, has gained her GP fellowship and also a diploma in child health.
She has a special interest in chronic disease management, women and children’s health.
Shuren is passionate about supporting and educating medical students and GP Registrars. As part of her commitment in nurturing upcoming doctors, Dr Taylor will often have medical students assisting her during consultations and mentoring GP Registrars participating in the JCU GP Training program. Her devotion to these training programs has led her to become a JCU GP Training Supervisor with a vision in attracting and retaining GPs within our beautiful region.

Dr Samantha Rayner
MBBS, MMed Public Health, PGrad Dip Surg Anat
Meet Dr Samantha Rayner, a born and bred Queenslander. Sam has a long history in musculoskeletal medicine and has worked in Orthopaedics for many years. She has a special interest in skin cancer detection and management including surgical options. Sam is also available for general medicine and chronic disease management appointments.

Dr Shagufta Hasan
MBBS
Dr Shagufta Hasan moved to Australia from Bangladesh and has over 12 years’ experience as a general practitioner. After moving from New South Wales to Mackay with her lovely family, Shagufta worked at the Mackay Base Hospital and as a General Practitioner. Shagufta enjoys spending time with her family and likes to travel. Special Interests include Women’s and Children’s Health & Chronic Disease Management. Shagufta has extensive experience with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health.

Dr Chon Man (Jeff) Chu
MBBS
Dr Jeff Chu completed his medical training with the University of Queensland and worked around Australia, including Brisbane, Kingaroy and Darwin. Dr Jeff and his wife loved the Mackay region so much they decided to settle here and even welcomed their first child.
Dr Jeff enjoys helping people to understand their own health and to be a part of a patient’s life journey. He has special interest in Family Medicine, Dermatology, Mental Health and Chronic Disease.
In his spare time Dr Jeff enjoys food, music, travelling and spending time with friends and family.

Dr Malcolm Rutledge
MBBS, FRACGP
Dr Malcom Rutledge moved to Mackay in 2011 to escape the rat race of south-east Queensland. He brought with him over 50 years of knowledge and experience in health care – first as a pharmacist. Later, he trained in the
USA as a chiropractor/osteopath and practised on the Gold Coast for many years before attending medical school. He was raised and educated largely in Queensland and is a medical graduate of the University of Queensland (2000). Aside from general medicine, he has special interests in skin disorders and skin cancer as well as musculoskeletal medicine.
